Dr. Jason Cheung
Dr. Cheung is a board-certified ophthalmologist. He graduated with honors from McGill University Medical School, Montreal in 1991. The following year, he did his internship year at University of California, Los Angeles. His ophthalmology residency was at the University of Minnesota from 1993 to 1996. Following his residency, he completed a pediatric ophthalmology fellowship at University of Toronto in 1997 and a genetics fellowship there in 1998.
Dr. Cheung has been living in Kitsap County since 1998. He is married to Danielle, another physician and they have a daughter, Claire. In his free-time, he enjoys cooking, running, and traveling. He traveled around the world once in 1993.
Dr. Melissa Rice
Dr. Rice graduated with honors from Indiana University School of Optometry in 1999. She completed her residency training in pediatric optometry and vision therapy in 2000 at The New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA, and then joined the staff for one year as an assistant professor. From 2001 to 2007, Dr. Rice was a consultant at Mayo Clinic Department of Ophthalmology. During her time at Mayo Clinic, she was active in clinic research on pediatric eye disease and vision therapy. She completed a post-graduate certificate in clinical research.
Dr. Rice is active in VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity). She has provided eye care in Nicaragua and Mexico. Since 2006, she has led the pediatric VOSH trip annually in Guanajuato, Mexico.
In September 2007 Dr. Rice joined the practice. She's excited to be part of the practice providing pediatric care, primary care and vision therapy to patients. She and her husband, Brian, welcomed their daughter, Naomi, January 2011. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, knitting, cycling, kayaking, and hiking.
